The Therapeutic Photo-shoot
We've all been there. Even the most confident of us. Whether its due to a particular event (or person) in one's life, we've all at some point or another, lost our sexy.
I, to date, have gone through three major life events that have left me feeling less than my best physically. My first would have been when I was 12 years old and underwent brain surgery. Lost my hair, had a swollen head, and lack of activity left me several stone heavier than any 12 year old should be. Second, I would have to blame my ex-husband for. Without getting in to too much detail, several years of his 'company' left me most insecure and unsure of myself, especially physically. And third, I am living right now: pregnancy. Thank the great good lord that I've but 6 more days to go (unless of course my son decides he likes it in there and extends his stay for an additional week or two) because I cannot take it anymore! The huge belly;the stretch marked thighs and bottom; the once cute and perky, now suddenly enormous, breasts...the list goes on, but that is not the point of this entry.
My point is, we've all faced this feeling of 'I hate my looks; I would give anything to feel sexy again!'. Well, if I may, I have a suggestion for you that has worked for me every single time I've felt less than my physical best: the therapeutic photo-shoot.
The beauty of this is that you don't have to dish out tons of money for a professional photographer. That isn't the point at all. All you need is a camera (you don't even need a friend to shoot you: either a camera with a timer or some creative poses that don't make your extended arm too obvious). Now, put on your favourite outfit, get your hair done up just the way you like it and apply your favourite make-up (for me, that would be some pretty lingerie, a soft finger wave, a subtly smoky eye and a blood red lip).
Almost done! Now just go to your favourite spot in your flat (could be anywhere!), adjust the light, play your favourite music (I highly recommend Bitter:sweet) and click away! Don't stop at just a few shots. Keep on clicking until you get a few that you like. Now, don't you feel prettier already?
If you go ahead and give this a try, do write me and tell me if it worked for you. I always love to hear from my readers.
